Ana Vasquez, Author.

Ana Vasquez writes the story she operates from. Her memoir, A Girl Between Worlds, is the first volume of that story: a girl born in Guatemala City, adopted into a Wisconsin home, raised between two worlds under two names, and educated into the woman who would cross the stage at nineteen and go on to build companies in Palm Beach County.

A Girl Between Worlds

Born Near the Dump is where the book opens: a mother living on the streets near the dumping grounds in Guatemala City, a stranger who stopped instead of looking away, and a birth inside a clinic instead of outside among the garbage piles. From an orphanage, a caretaker named Josefina, and an adoption at two and a half, the book follows Ana into a Milwaukee home, a new name, Annie, and a childhood shaped by a mother who taught her that she would never have to pick food up off the floor again. It closes with Crossing the Stage, a graduation at nineteen, and a girl scanning a loud auditorium for one face: her mom, her smallest circle, in a single chair.

A complete memoir manuscript in seven chapters, written by Ana Vasquez, who personally owns all rights in the book.

A second memoir volume, The Woman Who Rose, is also complete in manuscript. A separate book, Muse, the Future Engine for Your Business, is presented on its own site and is not sold from this page.

Her books live on their own sites, with her teaching at Elevation 2.0 and her speaking home at FoundHer Elite.

From the Memoir

Where the story begins

I was born on March 4, 1984, in Guatemala City, to Francisca Esquin de Vasquez, who was living on the streets near the dumping grounds while she was pregnant with me. The wife of the President of Guatemala stopped, helped her, and brought her to a clinic, so I was born inside a clinic instead of on the streets. My mother became sick with meningitis and was taken to a guarded facility where visitors were not allowed, and I never knew her. I was moved to an orphanage, where a caretaker named Josefina held me long enough that I called her name as I was carried away. At two and a half, I was adopted by a single Polish woman in Wisconsin, a woman with a master's degree in education who worked as a social worker, and I began a new life in Milwaukee under a new name, Annie. At our first restaurant meal together, my grandmother told me I would never have to pick food up off the floor again. At nineteen, I crossed the graduation stage scanning a crowded auditorium for one face, my mom, my smallest circle and my entire support system in a single chair.
